One Moment Please

‘Renewed moments’ –  is a phrase I picked up on when I read a post of a faithful contributor in my blogosphere space.

It stuck a little, and as I thought about it I wondered if it is an accurate phrase, can a moment be renewed ?
A moment is a moment, it comes and it goes.   And if you want it to linger you sit very still or else, like holding water in your hand it just flows on, away and the moment passes.
It is a time when you are very present ‘in the moment’, and become aware of more than just yourself and where you are at in that particular moment in time.
Moments can become eternal.

Moments can become milestones.   It is a time when you acknowledge that from that moment something changed.   Change-moments can be both terrifying and sublime.

Recognition frame moments, and can happen in an instant.   The moment you become aware you hit new ground.

Moments can be refreshing, bring relief and laughter –  that change perspectives.

Moments can be enriching, if you recognise them when they happen.    Are they little signs along the way of life ?   Signs we often miss for all the hurry-scurry in life and its demands.

But can moments be renewed ?  I think yes, for where else do we keep our moments but in our memory.   So they can be recalled, and relived and re evaluated in an instant.

Aren’t moments wonderful. ?  They come they go, and they live on.   It is up to us to recognise and capture them so that we can put value on them.

And when all our moments are gathered together, they make up the patchwork beauty of our lives.

Savour your moments, polish them, strip them of their uglinesses, frame them, and appreciate them, they are little gifts from God.

So take one moment please, be still, and cherish the moment.

The Orbit of Time

That which is has already been,
And what is to be has already been;
And God requires an account of what is past.

To everything there is a season,
A time for every purpose under heaven :
 A time to be born,
And a time to die;

A time to plant,|
    And a time to pluck what is planted;
A time to kill,
    And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
    And a time to build up;
A time to weep,
    And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
    And a time to dance,
A time to cast away stones,
    And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
    And a time to refrain from embracing;
A time to gain,
    And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
    And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
    And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,|
    And a time to speak;
A time to love,
    And a time to hate;
    A time of war,
  And a time of peace.

A MOMENT IN TIME

Hour glass

The sands of Time are settling down on 2018.

Time, is a gift to us all.  And how quickly it passes us by.  This I realised as I observed a little old lady having her lunch in a popular restaurant, renowned for its hamburgers and good coffee.   I had popped in after doing my shopping, and felt I needed a “spoil” after the Christmas rush, and to make the new year my own, with a little celebration of my favourite – banana milkshake !

This was quite uneventful, until I saw the little old lady, stricken with age, with a question mark for posture, stand up and begin to reach for her two wheel walker.  This with the help of her, I ‘m assuming, granddaughter.  The scene began to painstakingly unfold as she finally got in the position to begin her shuffle toward the door.   She looked up, and began to move forward.  Then to my amazement she stopped and with confidence, did a little bob-bob-sway-sway dance, with a sweet smile on her face, and a twinkle in her eye  – all this as she caught and held my gaze.  I was delighted,  gave her a big smile, a wave, and a thumbs up sign.  Not a word was spoken, not a word was needed as she expressed her mischief and her sense of humour.
She continued her epic shuffle to the door, but before she got there stopped and did the bob-bob-sway-sway dance again, but this time to the waitresses who were watching her go.  They all waved and clapped their hands in response to her happy presence, and called out to her  “goodbye Granny, come again”   Her smiling granddaughter looked up, caught my eye, and we just beamed at each other.   I thought to myself, I hope I can age as gracefully as this little old lady has shown me today, and that I can retain a sense of humour and playfulness into my ripe old age.

It was a moment in time, …. and it put a smile on my soul as I watched humanity play itself out before me. I got more than a banana milkshake for my new year’s celebration !  I got a lesson on life, and saw how the Aged and Elderly among us are special, and need to be seen and appreciated – and applauded !

So teach us to number our days,  That we may gain a heart of wisdom.

Welcome to Time

The welcoming mat is out for a new year.

Its  TIME  that has been given to us, and for some a nudge of encouragement might be needed to shine in on 2016.

Some people collect rings and things.  I like to collect strings of words, pearls of wisdom, if you like.   Not really a philosopher at heart, I tend to pick and gather the words and thoughts of other people who can more aptly express the heart of a matter with just the right line of thought or words for the occassion.

So here are some of my “pearls”  for you,  for the year ahead.

HEADS  UP  !
SMILES  WIDE  !

MINDS  OPEN  !

That is from Teacher Charne, who teaches pre primary kiddies.  Does it not create such a sense of happy expectancy ?  A call to attention.

I am reminded of a phrase that Dr Caroline Leaf said on a TV proramme that went something like this. ” when you pay attention, focus in on the matter at hand, when you expect things, your neurons in your brain go  Yay !  something is coming, and they get ready to receive new input. Amazing  !   So let us focus, and pay happy attention to what is important to us this year.

For the Dreamers out there, here are the words of a song that Teacher Charne, had to teach her little class for a year-end concert in 2011.  Being a Dreamer myself I just love this !

Anything can happen if you let it,
sometimes things are difficult
but you can bet it
doesn’t have to be so
changes can be made
you can move a mountain if you use a larger spade.

Anything can happen, its a marvel
you can be a butterfly or just stay larval,
stretch your mind beyond fantastic,
dreams are made from strong elastic
take some good advice and don’t forget it,
anything can happen if you let it !!

Out of the mouth of babes, yes ?  This is a faith song we should all sing.

Then recently from the WordPress Blogosphere I gleaned these words, that encouraged me,  to encourage you. From the blog of    lilyellyn.com
         Who I am today is shaped by what I did yesterday and last year and the years   before that.   But who I will be tomorrow depends on what I choose to do with today.

Surra commented on the WordPress blog with these words that grabbed me :
” 2016 is the year… the year to stop living in the past… its the year to do everything you can today to create a better tomorrow... the year to act, and I am looking forward to it”
I looked up Surrah at  :   brighteyesandpinkskies.com/about/   to find more inspiration, and was humbled to discover that she has SMA – spinal muscular atrophy !!  What courage she has to be able to write these words.

Finally,  advice from the Scriptures, to walk in wisdom,  found in Ephesians 5:15,16
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise,  redeeming the time
because the days are evil.

Time is a gift, time is for living our life to the best of our ability, and potential, to the fullest of our joy,  and to the glory of God.   Make Time count !
May we all have the sense, and the grace,  to make the most of the time that has been freely given to us.

To all, blessings and happiness for  2016.
